SUMMARY: Adirondacks Fall 2008 -- Arrive on Saturday, Sept 27 and depart on Tuesday, Oct 7, 2008 (early departure Monday afternoon is possible) at Burlington, VT. Max 22-min 18 riders. Cycle 398 total miles through NY's Adirondack Park. Avg 50 mi/day with the toughest day 59 miles and 1 day of 54 miles with climbing by altimeter of 3,550 ft or TOPO of 4,900 ft of climbing. OVERVIEW: Take the scenic route around NY's Adirondack Park. Based on participant's feed-back the tour has substantial upgrades in lodging and is offered during the “peak” leaf season. Under a canopy of color, cycle mostly quite country roads along lakes and beaver ponds with stops at quaint country stores. Be prepared to climb some mountain roads for famous foliage views en route to Lake Placid. Along the way, you can tour and taste at the Otter Creek Brewery, shop at Frog Hollow State Craft Center, explore nature at Ausable Chasm, and Revolutionary War history at Fort Ticonderoga. Social hour features local micro brews, award-winning cheddar cheeses and VT apple products. The rest day in Lake Placid offers gondola rides up Whiteface Mountain, ½ day boat tour, optional loop ride, many restaurant choices and Ben & Jerry's ice cream. OVERNIGHTS: 1: S. Burlington, VT 2: Middlebury, VT 3-4: (2) Chestertown, NY 5: N. Creek, NY 6: Tupper Lake, NY 7-8: (2) Lake Placid, NY 9: Westport, NY 10: S. Burlington, VT LOGISTICS: Burlington is served by an airport. Best Western Windjammer Hotel, S. Burlington, VT offers free hotel shuttle to Burlington airport. Car park and bike box storage at hotel. ADMINISTRATION: Third time tour is offered by leaders Tom and Julie Leever with John Leever/Van driver. Estimated cost of $1,350 for 10 nights (includes first and last night in Burlington) includes 4 group dinners and 7 breakfasts, maps, cue sheets and social hour beverages. Following your acceptance and receipt of your $500 deposit (which includes the $50 BAC fee), your name will be added to the Participant List. Final payment of $ 850 is due on April 15, 2008. Single riders will be accepted who are willing to share a room. CANCELLATION POLICY: Any refund will depend on our finding a replacement rider. If we can fill it immediately, you will get a full refund less the BAC $50 fee. Otherwise, any refund will be based on the principle that costs for those who complete the tour should not be increased. Your share of fixed costs, including the luggage van, maps or hotel costs, will be deducted from your eventual refund. Whatever we can recover, you will get back after the tour is completed and final accounting takes place.
