We meet in Montreal, QC during the fall foliage season. After Paris, Montreal is the second largest francophone city in the world. A truly international city with 3.6 million people, it has over 80 distinct ethnic communities. We enjoy a French ambiance and culture where the dollar goes further, without a lengthy and costly trans-continental flight. After two nights in Montreal we travel north along the beautiful St. Lawrence river to the lovely city of Sorel, continuing along the St. Lawrence we then spend two nights in Trois Rivieres, then an overnight in Deschambault before arriving for a night in Quebec city, we then cross the St. Lawrence to the south shore and spend two nights in Montmagny, and a night in the petite village of St. Jean Port Joli, we then again return to the north shore of the St. Lawrence river and spend a second night in Quebec city before circumnavigating the island of Orleans where we stay in the village of Petronille. Our last day of riding takes us again to Quebec city. Three nights in Quebec city provides the time to explore this picturesque 400 year old city with its cultural variety, fortified city walls, and many museums and art galleries. We mostly follow lightly travelled roads that closely parallel both the St. Lawrence river and are part of Bicycle Route Vert, a 4,000 kilometer bicycle route introduced by the Province in 2007. The terrain is mostly flat and was fully scouted in June 2009. We stay in a mix of two, three, and four star hotels and auberges Difficulty - The ride is rated 2B.
