There is some climbing, but not too much, and you don’t have to do it. The rides can be super easy choosing among mapped routes on the extensive network of bike paths along the ocean front.You can ride from Santa Monica to Palos Verdes without getting onto a road with traffic. The (!) is used as some of the planned rides do have up to 1200 feet of daily climbing, spread over about 40 miles, with some sections at 6% - 7% grade.of a couple of hundred feet Enjoy the famous Venice beach boardwalk and Venice Canals. Ride along the beaches of Santa Monica, Playa Del Rey, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Redondo Beach. Visit Palos Verdes with views of ocean and the lovely neighborhoods of Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, and Santa Monica. Route sheets will offer many options to subtract or add miles and climbing. There may be a short day with no formal happy hour for you to take a tour of local attractions: Hollywood, Universal studios, Beverly Hills, and Disneyland, plus lots of places to go shopping and then stay out for dinner. REI and a Performance bike store are nearby and referrals to shops renting mountain bikes will be available on request. Consider coming early or staying longer. The weather in late Oct is usually dry, cool in the mornings with afternoon temps in the high 60’s or 70’s ADMINISTRATION: The estimated cost of the tour is less than $900 per person, assuming double occupancy rooming for 7 nights with continental breakfasts, two group meals, the daily social gathering, maps/cue sheets and the non-refundable $50 BAC fee.
