Ride Description

OVERVIEW: If you want to lead a BAC ride but don't know where to start then plan to participate in the BAC Zoom Ride Leader Seminar in 4 sessions in February 2025.

To attend, you must be a BAC member and have completed at least one BAC tour.

Dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2/4, 2/6, 2/11 and 2/13

Time: 7:00 – 9:30 PM EST (4:00 – 6:30 PST, etc.) for each session.

The program will feature:

·            On-line classes via Zoom

·            Frequent knowledge checks with quizzes and activities

·            Practice and assignments between training sessions

Experienced presenters (ride leaders and board members) will provide the tools you need to lead a successful BAC tour. We will cover how to lead all types of rides including point-to-point, fixed-based, self-directed, and commercially assisted. You will learn all aspects of leading rides from planning the initial proposal, budgeting and then leading the ride and finalizing all paperwork. Each seminar participant will learn how to access resources needed to propose and manage tours.

This training was offered in the previous four years and has received rave reviews from the participants.  Since that time, many of the participants have successfully proposed BAC tours of their own.

Our goal is that participants will master the knowledge and skills needed to successfully propose a ride within 12 months of completing the seminar and to successfully lead the tour.

TRAINING SCHEDULE:

Tuesday Feb 4th: BAC Overview; BAC Resources; the Roles of the Ride Leader and the Mentor; and Initial Planning

Thursday, Feb 6th: Proposing Your Ride; Ride Rating; Initial Budget Planning; Writing the Ride Proposal; and Selecting Hotels.

Tuesday Feb 11th: After Your Ride Has Been Approved; During Your Ride; After Your Ride; and a Ride Leader Forum for discussion and questions

Thursday, Feb 13th:  BAC Insurance; Covid 19 Precautions; Successful Social Hours and Working with a Mentor.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:    This seminar is for BAC members who are interested in leading a ride for the first time.  It is also helpful for those who have previously led BAC rides and want more training.  Members are required to have completed at least one BAC tour prior to the training dates.

COST & ADMINISTRATION:  A registration fee of $50 will be charged.  This fee will be refunded to participants who complete all four sessions of the seminar.

Seminar participant responsibility: A successful Seminar depends on participants actively engaging in the program. To do this, participants will need to have:

-An up-to-date computer with a working camera and microphone.  The BAC cannot provide tech support but will, as needed, provide links to tutorials on using Zoom before the seminar begins.

-A secondary electronic device such as a tablet or smart phone.

-Access to the internet

-A quiet environment to participate in the program – free of distractions (such as pets)
