Ride Description

OVERVIEW
Davis, America’s premier cycling city and our hometown, is your gateway to the vineyards, orchards, coastline, redwoods, and mountains just north of San Francisco Bay. We look forward to ideal cycling weather and scenic routes in our local area renowned for gourmet food and fine wine.

DESCRIPTION
Our seven point-to-point riding days take us from Davis to Suisun, then to Sonoma, Pt. Reyes, Bodega Bay, Windsor, St. Helena, and back to Davis. Five two-night stays offer options that include a spectacular tour around Carquinez Strait, an excursion out the pristine Pt. Reyes peninsula, and back country loops that are popular for local bike club events.

RIDE RATING
Point-to-point riding days average 2B, but the St. Helena to Davis day is 55 miles. Three of the optional days have total climbing between 2500 and 3000 ft.

WEATHER
In late April and early May highs are normally in the 70s and lows in the 50s. Rain is unlikely, but still possible.

LODGING
Three tour hotels are located in town centers, three are at waterfronts, and one is among vineyards. All are located within walking distance of good restaurants.  The tour begins with a get acquainted social in Davis at 5:00 pm on April 28, 2017; the tour ends after breakfast on May 11th.

LOGISTICS
Davis is twenty minutes from Sacramento International Airport connected by shuttle service or a public bus. Three Amtrak lines serve Davis and carry bicycles; our hotel is next to the station. For a charge, a nearby bike shop will receive/ship Fedex/UPS and set up/pack bicycles. We have free parking, storage of all bike boxes, etc.

COST AND ADMINISTRATION
In addition to the non-refundable BAC registration fee of $50, our estimated cost is $2,200 (double occupancy).  The initial deposit is $1,000 and will be due upon acceptance, and the next two payments of $600 will be due six and three months before the tour.  All breakfasts and three group meals are included. Other food, wine tasting fees, and other personal expenses are not included.

SINGLES
We welcome single participants, whether sharing a room with another single or choosing to pay a solo supplement.  If you will be sharing a room with another single, please notify the Ride Leader of your intended roommate.  If you do not have a roommate, the Ride Leader will assist you by providing names of other singles looking for roommates. The single supplement will be $950.

CANCELLATION POLICY
The $50 BAC ride registration fee is not refundable unless the entire tour is cancelled.  Refunds of tour payments will depend upon whether a replacement rider signs up, and on costs that can be recouped. The amount refunded will be based on the principle that the tour’s remaining participants will not incur any additional cost as a result of cancellations. If the canceling participant is replaced, a refund will be made at that time. If the canceling participant can't be replaced, any refund will be determined after the ride and final expense report is completed. If a single participant cancels and another roommate cannot be found, in addition to other costs that cannot be recouped the cancelling roommate may also be liable for the single supplement fee of the roommate remaining on the tour..

RIDERS RESPONSIBILITIES
If you’re new to BAC bike tours, you should know that we expect our participants to be competent cyclists who can provide much of their own support while on the tour.  Participants are expected to come to the ride well trained, in good health, and ready to accomplish the required daily riding using well-maintained bicycles.  All participants should accept responsibility for a safe and enjoyable tour.  Please be sure to read the ride description carefully, respond promptly to calls for payments and emails from the ride leader.  While on the ride, consider offering to help with various tasks such as happy hour preparation.  All our Ride Leaders are volunteers, and we ask that participants respect their decisions.

To submit a request to join this ride use the "links" displayed above this Ride Description.  When you are accepted, the Ride Leader will move you from the Waitlist to the Pending List, and you will receive an email notification to login to the BAC website to sign the release of liability form and pay the non-refundable BAC ride registration fee of $50 online. Once those steps have been completed, the initial deposit of $1,000 will be sent to the ride leader.  Questions?
