Ride Description

OVERVIEW: If you want to lead a BAC ride but don't know where to start then attend the BAC Ride Leader Seminar in Bremerton, WA. on Friday, August 28 and Saturday, August 29 from 9 AM until 4 PM each day. The presenters, who are all experienced ride leaders, will provide the tools you need to lead a successful BAC ride in the USA and international locations. We will cover how to lead all types of rides including point-to-point, fixed-based, self-directed, and commercially assisted. You will learn all aspects of leading rides from developing, budgeting and planning, to leading the ride and finalizing all paperwork.

BAC will provide each seminar participant with “take-home” resources covering all topics. During the seminar, we’ll use slides, videos, lecture, activities and discussions. Our goal is that participants will master the knowledge and skills needed to successfully propose a ride within 12 months of completing the seminar and successfully lead the tour.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: This seminar is primarily for BAC members who are interested in leading a ride for the first time. It is also helpful for those who have previously led BAC rides and want more training. If seminar registration reaches the maximum number of 35 participants, preference will be given to first-time ride leaders.

About the Area: Bremerton is truly a beautiful city; just a one-hour ferry ride - or thirty-minute fast ferry ride - from downtown Seattle. Visitors can enjoy the Harborside area which includes Kitsap Conference Center, fine dining, coffee shops, cafes and the Port of Bremerton Marina. Across the Manette Bridge are more cafes and shopping and a few blocks north of downtown are parks, two 18 hole championship golf courses and disc golf.

If you wish to cycle the quiet local roads before or after the Seminar, consider bringing your bike. We will coordinate with a local bicycle club for Ride With GPS files or cue sheets. To access the sites in Seattle (https://visitseattle.org/), hop on the ferry. Maybe consider renting a car to visit Olympic or Mount Rainier National Parks.

COST & ADMINISTRATION: The cost of the seminar is $100 plus the BAC registration fee of $50. (The BAC fee will be refunded to participants who complete the seminar.) This special rate of $100 is provided to encourage members to consider giving back to the club by becoming Ride Leaders. The cost covers lunches on seminar days, two happy hours, one group dinner on Friday night, and the classroom costs. Each participant will receive “take home” resources with materials covered during the seminar.

Note: The hotel room cost is NOT included in the Ride Leader Seminar fee. Participants must reserve and pay for their hotel room directly as noted above.
