OVERVIEW: Enjoy beautiful Victoria over 9 days and 8 nights in the jewel of the Northwest! This fixed based urban and rural tour emanating from our hotel centrally located in the heart of the city of Victoria BC Canada. Victoria is the provincial capital located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. It was established in 1843 by the British and named for Queen Victoria. This city has a rich maritime history but it is now known as the Garden City. The seven official rides will include a city tour, exploration of the east and west sides of the Saanich Peninsula, the Westshore and the Cowichan Valley. The routes will follow cycling trails, streets with bicycle lanes or quiet country roads wherever possible. The final ride will be to the world famous Butchart Gardens. After a day of riding there is time to allow participants to explore the local sites on foot including the Provincial Legislature, the BC museum, Craigdarroch Castle or even go whale watching.
Health and Safety: Participants are expected to come to the tour in good health and ready to ride. Should someone's health become compromised and the group’s health and safety placed in jeopardy, a plan will be developed by the ride leader(s) and communicated to all individuals. The expectation is for the group to work together to mitigate any spread of infection or illness as a means to ensure the tour can continue as planned. It is recommended that you bring two COVID test kits and high-quality masks with you on the tour.
RIDE RATING: The ride is rated as 2B but it should be noted that it is a STRONG 2B. Victoria and the surrounding areas are not flat so the average daily climbing will be at approximately 2220 ft. While there are no long climbs, cyclists will be going up and down hills frequently with some short climbs with grades in the high single to low double digits. The routes will generally range from 40-50 miles with two days exceeding the B rating with rides of 51 and 58 miles based. The Cowichan Valley ride also exceeds the 2 rating by about 500 ft.
Route MAPS and GPS FILES: The ride leader will provide RWGPS files approximately 1 month prior to the start of the tour. Participants will receive an email containing a link to the EVENT file. Participants will need to have downloaded (at the minimum) the free version of the RWGPS app to receive the voice turn by turn directions. RWGPS can be run on a Garmin device and or smartphone. Participants wanting cue sheets will need to print their own from the file provided.
WEATHER: Temperatures in late June and early July typically range from 20°C (68° F) to 24°C (75°F). The nighttime temperatures are slightly cooler with an average temperature of 12°C (54°F). There are on average only 3 days of rain in June and 2 days in July, but participants should be prepared for that possibility since coastal weather can be quite variable. Please download the weather app to stay on top of the local weather environment. https://www.epicrideweather.com/

Upon acceptance to the ride, you must pay your $1000 deposit by credit card. Final payment of $1250 is due by May 1, 2026. The additional BAC fee of $85 will be paid directly by credit card when you sign the Release of Liability (ROL) form electronically.
Solo participants will be accepted at the Solo supplement rate of $1350. This is in addition to the $2250 estimated cost of the ride. This ride is occurring outside of the US, so based upon currency exchange rates an adjustment to the final payment may be required.
SINGLES & SOLOS POLICY: Singles are a great addition to a ride and we welcome them. A “single” is a member who signs up by himself or herself and wishes to share a room with another participant. A “solo” is a member who signs up by himself or herself and does not wish to share a room.
Solo riders will also be accepted and placed on the ride list based on room availability. Please discuss with the ride leader if you have any questions regarding the solo policy. We have a fixed block of rooms at this time and this is a major Canadian holiday. So the earlier we have sign ups for solos, the more flexibility we will have to add to our block of rooms.
We recommend that singles find their own roommate prior to signing up. Ride Directors will introduce and assist singles to find roommates, but singles must make their own rooming decision.
After receipt of the initial deposit, a single rider that wished to share a room and is without a roommate will be placed on the ride and given until January 2026 to find a roommate. If they are unable to find a roommate, they will have the option to receive a full refund (minus the BAC Ride Registration Fee and Payment Processing Fee) or pay the $1350 Solo Supplement and stay on the ride. If a single pays the supplement, they may continue to seek a roommate, but must plan to participate without a roommate if necessary. The solo supplement payment of $1350, is due by January 1, 2026 and can be paid by Zelle or check. To pay using Zelle: ● In your bank's website, add Bicycle Adventure Club as a new recipient, with email address treasurer@bicycleadventureclub.org ● Initiate a payment ● In the Message block, enter the name of your ride. If you have questions, contact Nancy Bohnett: nbohnett@bicycleadventureclub.org or Ernie Coose: erniecoose.bac@gmail.com. Checks should be made out to “BAC” with a notation of the tour name included on the check and mailed to: Bicycle Adventure Club, PO Box 23998, San Diego, CA 92193.
CANCELLATION POLICY: The BAC ride registration fee and payment processing fee are not refundable unless the entire tour is cancelled. Refunds will depend upon whether a replacement rider signs up, and on costs that can be recouped. The amount refunded will be based on the principle that the tour's remaining participants will not incur any additional cost as a result of cancellations. If the cancelling participant is replaced, a refund will be made at that time. If the cancelling participant can't be replaced, any refund will be determined after the ride and final expense report is completed. If a single participant cancels and another roommate cannot be found, in addition to other costs that cannot be recouped the cancelling roommate may also be liable for the solo supplement fee of the roommate remaining on the tour. BAC encourages members to purchase personal trip cancellation insurance.
RIDE PARTICIPANT RESPONSIBILITY: Remember that BAC Ride Leaders are volunteers, and that successful tours depend on participants providing much of their own support. Participants are expected to come to the ride well trained, in good health and ready to accomplish the required daily riding using well-maintained bicycles. All participants should accept responsibility for a safe and enjoyable tour. We encourage you to read the ride description carefully and respond to requests from Ride Leader. While on the ride, support your Ride Leader with offers to help with various tasks such as happy hour preparation and clean-up. Please do not interfere with the ride by inviting non-participants onto any portion of the ride or tour. Please keep the Ride Leader informed of any special request you may have and respect the Ride Leader’s decisions.
INSURANCE STATEMENTS: Before participating in any BAC tour, you should assess whether your medical and travel insurance coverage is sufficient. BAC maintains insurance that covers expenses related to accidents, medical emergencies such as sudden and unexpected sickness, and repatriation. This coverage applies when touring outside the US, regardless of your nationality, with the exception of Canadians cycling within Canada who are not covered. It will cover your door-to-door for a maximum of 90 days but will expire if you make a side trip not related to the BAC tour for more than 7 days before or after. There is limited coverage for a family member to join a covered person in an emergency. The policy covers the cost of treatment for Covid and other unexpected illnesses, but not quarantine. Coverage is subject to a $1000 deductible.
