Fun in the Sun: Fort Myers Beach to Key West

Fun in the Sun-  all 350 miles from Fort Myers to Key West- (aka the trains and boats and planes tour)

The group - 24 - lead by Glenn and Barb Rudolph - with Drivers Roy and Kristi Brubaker

The group consisted of folks as far away as California and Reno, Texas, Georgia, North Carolina. age range 50s to mid 70’s

While many of fellow BAC members were freezing in the north we were lucky to have sunny days mild winds - except for the longest mile day 69 

Day 1 - a warm up ride around Sannibel and Captiva islands - Devastated by hurricanes in 2023 - it is remarkable how much has been done to restore bridges and roads!

Day 2 & 3 - south to Naples and Everglade city.

Day 4 - Everglade city we were treated to an airboat ride - it was exciting traveling through the Mangroves teaming with birds and reptiles.

Day 5 -The the LONG ride to Kendall - outside of Miami - we learned NOT to feed the alligators and were treated to a salt facial!

Day 6  - Onto the Overseas Highway- and winds finally at our backs- an easy cycle into Key Largo for a rest day -

Group dinner at Snook's. next day some of us kayaked. Many went to 

Day 7 REST - or - John PenneKamp Reef state park taking a boat to about 30 minutes from shore to snorkel and view the coral and fish and sharks - oh my! Others Kayaked or just really rested and or fixed their flats!

Day 8 - In Marathon we stayed at the Faro beach resort and watched the super bowl !! by the ocean! GO EAGLES

Day 9 — 10  Key West - Baby’s for coffee - Must stop for lunch etc

Next 2 days all explored Key West 

Some Highlights:

 -  Dry Tortuga National Park- 90 miles south of Key west - 

     Located in Gulf of Mexico - boat or ferry - 

  • Ship Wreck museum 
  • Hemingway house
  • Truman White House 
  • Multiple shops and galleries 

Day 11 - Ferry a beautiful sunset - and moon rise.

what an adventure! Once again - the world looks better on a bike!

A BIG Thank You to our leaders and drivers. Barb Glenn Kristi and Roy worked tireless and with cheerfulness - giving the group an incredible trip!
