Our BAC group enjoyed an incredible week of cycling, exploration, and camaraderie in Tucson, with some riders experiencing their first BAC tour! This trip blended scenic rides, cultural highlights, and excellent group activities, making for a truly memorable adventure.
One highlight was a scavenger hunt of Tucson’s vibrant public art, organized by our ride leaders. Riders pedaled through the city to capture selfies with murals, sculptures, and other artistic landmarks, making for a fun and interactive way to explore. In addition, a dedicated mural ride route took us through Tucson’s colorful neighborhoods, showcasing the city’s thriving street art scene.
Tucson’s renowned Loop Trail provided countless miles of scenic riding. Many riders visited the Boneyard, where retired military aircraft rest in the desert, and the historic San Xavier Mission, a stunning architectural landmark with deep cultural significance.
For those seeking a challenge, Mt. Lemmon was the star attraction. Albert Meerscheidt provided invaluable support from his van, offering water and snacks to keep riders fueled on the climb.
Bernice Tannenbaum guided us on an evening bat observation excursion, where we watched these fascinating creatures take flight at dusk while learning about their behaviors and ecological role.
We also enjoyed two exceptional shared meals, catered by a local company. These dinners provided a perfect way to unwind, swap stories, and reflect on the day’s adventures while enjoying unique Tucson cuisine.
The final days of the tour brought unexpectedly warm temperatures, but we adjusted by starting our rides in the cool mornings, allowing us to fully enjoy Tucson’s beautiful desert landscapes before the heat set in.
From the well-planned routes to the engaging activities and shared experiences, this tour was an outstanding success. Here’s to more adventures ahead!
